Cannot map FPP DMX output in xLights

I'm testing adding some DMX dimmer boards to my display. I have a test FPP rpi with FTDI usb dongle connected to the board. Everything works correctly under FPP test modes but I cannot seem to address in xlights. I have tried both tying the model to start channel and FPP with no luck. I do not have an option under the controller tab setups to adjust the "channels".  How are others accomplishing this setup. Thank you. Screenshots attached.

PS. this is just a test setup. Main display is f16v5 so I'll eventually add this in. just testing first

A couple of years back when I was trying to add some static items to my show I struggled with the addressing.  I finally made my first 512 channels (ie. chan 1- 512) dedicated to DMX and started my pixels at chan 513.   But I was waisting a lot because I only had the capability of doing 16 channels so now my first pixel channel starts at chan 17.  I have the DMX connected to the serial output of a Falcon PiCap that runs the pixel lights on my garage door and garage eave line as the two main outputs of the PiCap.  I probably have at least 6 ftdi converters in my junk drawer from way back in my Lynx days.

I configure a fake E1.31 controller in Xlights for a 512 channel universe 1. I then manually assign channels 1-512 to an open dmx dongle.
