I think there is a bug in the FPP Beagle Bone String Cape menu and output.  I'm using the latest version of FPP 3.5.3 and my BBB-F8 cape is version 1.01.  When I select from FPP drop down menu for F8-B (no serial) I get 20 ports that I can configure. 1-8 and 3 sets of 4 port diff receivers.  If I select F8-B (4 serial) I get 16 ports to configure 1-8 and 2 sets of 4 port diff receivers.  If I select F8-B (8 serials) I get 12 ports to configure.  1-8 and 1 set of 4 port diff receiver.

The output settings from gui are not correct for the physical outputs.  I'm only using 1-8 ports and only have selected F8-B (no serial) I have 170 pixels for each 8 ports.  so the gui shows start channels 1,511,1021,1531,2041,2551,3061,3571 when I run a test from FPP and I only want to test port 1 (start channel 1-510) the physical pixels do not light up.  To get the following ports to light.

port 1 has to be 1021-1530
port 2 has to be 1-510
port 3 has to be 1531-2040
port 4 has to be 511-1020
port 5 has to be 2041-2550
port 6 has to be 2551-3060
port 7 has to be 3061-3570
port 8 has to be 3571-4080

So you can see something is messed up.

I'm not able to reproduce this.....  Took me a while to FIND my F8-Bv1, haven't touched it for a while.  :)

Anyway, I configured it with 50 pixels (all I have in my office) on each string going straight down.    The channels seemed to line up properly when run from the Display testing.    To test further, I created an 8x50 matrix in xLights, turned output to lights on, and dropped a bars affect on it.   As I moved the effect up/down on the individual strands, they exactly lined up with the ports.    The effect on strand 1 only output lights on port 1, etc...

Dan,

The above issue was only happening to one controller.  Before wiping I did remove the co-universes.json file and even copied a working on from another BBB-F8 and it was the same.  I ended up just wiping that controller FPP and reinstalling, reconfigure.  Not sure what happen but it's all good now.

Thanks
