wlan0 (not detected)

I have an F8-B with an Edimax WiFi adaptor that I'm trying to get working again. FPP is telling me that wlan0 is not detected although this configuration has worked in the past. When I go in to the OS via SSH and run the ifconfig command, wlan0 is not on the list. I've recently upgraded to FPP 7.5. Any ideas?

I am having the same or similar problem.  I have both a K8-B and an F8-B.  Both have been in use for two years.  This year they do not seem to like wifi.  Both of mine use Edimax adapters and are connected via an extension, not plugged directly into the BB per past recommendations.  Fortunately I have other controllers I was able to put in place that use Pis for my FPP remote instead of the Beagles.   The BBs do connect up ok on my workbench but not out in my yard even though all 10 of my Pis and my phone connect to the show network just fine.

For me, FPP 7.x became an issue for EDIMAX dongles.  They all stopped working, but I believe they were shown as wlan(o)  I'm now running 8.x and EDIMAX's seems to work again.
Maybe try upgrading to the latest 8.3.1

Upgrading to 8.3.1 did the trick. wlan0 is working now. It's not paying attention to the static IP address that I set in the FPP interface. It's authenticating to my laptop's mobile hotspot and getting it's IP address via DHCP. A minor inconvenience since I can get the address using xscanner. My show network is separate from my home network so this is a perfect way to run and update my show from the F8-B.

You may have leased IP's (like reserved IP's)  I seem to recall similar issues.  I shut everything down (not home network) for 24 hours, then static worked again.  You may want to look at your lease time on Show router.

When you first tried to start up, your static IP may have been connected then EDIMAX went south.  Those IP will be held in reserve until lease time runs out, then free them up again.  When you restarted with FPP 8.x your network may see EDIMAX as new devices, therefore won't assign static because it leased to the original startup.  Also, under FPP Network (bottom of page) you may want to clear Persistent Names

I have a K8B, and had an SD card issue the other day. Had to re flash. So I flashed with the latest FPP8.3, and it would not detect the Wifi dongle. It wouldn't open the hotspot. I couldn't connect to it. After connecting to it via ethernet cable I was able to log in. Upon selecting wifi as the connection and trying to set it up. It wouldn't work. I beat on this for a while then flashed 8.2, and everything worked as it should.  

I don't know what version you are running, but if it is 8.3, go back to 8.2.
