PIR Sensor to Trigger Random Video File

I searched extensively and couldn't find a solution that fit my needs. Here goes: I have one master running audio, a remote hooked to my projector playing video files, and another remote with a PIR sensor. In an ideal world, I want people walking on the sidewalk in front of my house to trip the PIR sensor, then for one of my 10 video files to play. I want it to be random, or at least sequentially, because I want some replayability for the people walking by, as the videos are 15-20-second skits of pumpkins telling jokes and interacting with passersby. The main issue I'm running into is that when I have the PIR sensor start a playlist and check the "if not running" but, according to my dumb brain, I then use a playlist that begins another playlist at random, thus rendering the "if not running" useless. Another PIR trip will start another playlist, often before the first one is finished. I'm sure there's a simple fix out there. But I'm currently in the "fog of war," trying to get set up and not thinking clearly.
