F16V4 IP Address

Hello everyone.  I am a newbie to christmas shows.  I am having trouble getting my computer to talk to the F16V4 controller.  The controller doesn't have an IP address and was trying to connect with Xlights. Any help would be appreciated

The IP address for any controller usually is from one of these sources:
1.  Static IP put into the controller by you.
2.  An IP assigned via your DHCP unit.  For most people, this is a router.
3.  A reserved IP (again done in your router) that links the controller's MAC address to the IP.

I suggest you check pixelcontroller.com for documentation for the F16V4.  There are several good videos on line as well.

Plug your f16 into your network switch or router using an ethernet cable.
Turn it on.
Watch the display for information.
If the address is not the "same" as your computer, you will need to fix that. When I say same, the first 3 numbers should be the same as your computer IP address. Use the screen and buttons to move around and change to DHCP.
Connect to the IP address in your browser http://x.x.x.x
