Looking for any documentation on PiCap V2. One of the questions I have is, if I apply 24V to the boards input, can I power 24V pixels? How about 5V Pixels? V1 board had jumpers for selecting voltage level. How does it work on V2?

darylc

The website says ' Input voltage 5-24V '  That input is used both to power the pi (no voltage jumpers required) and to power the pixels

It works pretty much the same way as the V1 board.  The purpose of the jumpers on the V1 board was to either bypass or turn on its voltage regulator on the PI's voltage output.  If you were running at 5V, it would bypass the regulator and send board voltage directly to the PI and if the board was running at 12V, the jumper would put a 5V regulator between the board voltage and the PI since the PI runs on 5V.  The new board handles the voltage output for the PI automatically and is now extended to 24V.  As always, the voltage being applied to the board is the voltage being supplied to the nodes connected to it.

Thank you both for your responses! I just received the PiCap and have it up and running, super easy! So far so good. One thing I noticed, the PiCap option in xlights only has 2 ports. What controller type do you use in xlights to use all 4 ports on the new PiCap?

darylc

I see it in xlights 2024.16 Vendor: Falcon, Model: PiCap v2

Thank you again! I was looking under FPP

What protocol runs the V2? I think DDP was automatically selected when I check marked full Xlights Controll, but I could be wrong, is this correct?
