Large layout.  Multiple Raspberry Pi 4B 8GBs running FPP 9.5.  1 configured as Player and 8 configured as Remotes.

Sequence stays in sync across all the remotes.  Pretty darn cool.

Trying to use the audio from each remote Raspberry Pi for local speakers so I don't have to use FM transmitter and multiple receivers.

Audio sounds fine... almost.  You can tell when a multicast sync signal is sent because often there's a pop/warble/glitch that makes it to the speakers.  It's noticeable enough to make you say, "What was that?"  I'm guessing the audio is adjusting ever so slightly to that sync signal.

Is there a workaround for this other than using an FM transmitter at the player and multiple receivers?

Off hand I think you would be very hard pressed to keep the audio that close to in sync with Remote Sync.  The requirement for audio sync is far tighter than for the lighting.  Audio phase needs to be within less than a millisecond.
One part of my background is simulcast 2-way radio systems.  That means that there are several radio transmitters transmitting the same audio on the same radio frequency.  Part of that is keeping the radio transmitters on the same frequency - which does not apply to this discussion.  However the other part is keeping the audio in phase.  We are keeping that within less than 50 microseconds.   If it gets very far off, the audio starts sounding like crap.  It starts off with a Stratum-1 clock at each site (for those that know what that means).  Note that to do that costs far more than anyone's home light show (by a lot).
Using LOR (mostly SuperStar) for all sequencing - using FPP only to drive P5 and P10 panels.

Same thing happens if you try to use a remote for video.  Slight glitch every few seconds. I don't think there's a workaround—so audio/video needs to come from the main player (not the remotes)

There is a setting in fpp somewhere that lets you ignore media sync on remotes, so it won't try to correct timing for the sync offsets for media.  That will eliminate the pops but runs the smallish risk of being out of sync with the pixels.

It might be in the advanced mode UI, you might need to check the manual for the exact detail.

That did it!

FPP Settings > Audio/Video > Ignore Media Sync Packets

Checked the box, rebooted and all pop/warble/glitches went away.  Sequence and music synced up when the next tune started... and stayed in sync till the end.

Life is good.  Thanks so much!

Where did you find "Ignore Media Sync Packets".  I've been looking for it but no joy:

FPP: v9.5-3-1 -g6a8b666d

BTW: I ran it in Player and Remote mode.

Only in remote mode and likely UI has to be advanced.

Make sure the FPP user interface level is set to at least 'Advanced' to see all the available options.

FPP Settings > UI > User Interface > User Interface Level > Advanced

Reboot (just to make sure everything is set up correctly)

Then...

FPP Settings > Audio/Video > Ignore Media Sync Packets
