it is connected to a single renard. I have gone into the ui and specified that it is renard protocol. no idea what to do from here. looking elsewhere on the forums for anyone who has had similar issue.

Are you trying to use E1.31 through your controller and then out to the renard or is the renard connected to the Pi via a serial port dongle?  If you are using E1.31, then you need to configure FPP for E1.31, not Renard.

no, no bridge (yet) just tryoing to get some blinky flashy on a single renard going out through the rj45output straight from the fpp to the renard with a cat5 cable.

is that not possible? and if it is, where have I gone wrong ? (This Time??)

yes, I used the ui to specify renard protocol.

I think Mat answered this on the other site where you asked the question.  The RJ45 jack on the Pi is Ethernet and can't be used to control your Renard controller directly.  You will need a USB to serial dongle to connect to the USB port on the Pi and give you a serial output to connect to the Renard's serial input.

Or, you can use an E1.31 bridge to bridge E1.31 from the Pi's network interface to serial for the renard.
