So it was on my bucket list to have a light display before I turned 50 and this past Nov 6th I turned 49 and the wife said "let's do it". 2 months I threw together a 5200 pixel show, wired everything up, learned about xlights and FPP and next year she wants Halloween show and mega trees and all kinda other stuff (I created a monster).

During this I had played with dig-quad so I stuck with what I knew and now I have 4 dig-quads, 1 dig-octa and 3 wled custom wifi controllers. They worked great but I feel like I'm all over the place and would like to look at other options that might support more pixels from 1 location. After speaking with a lot of people on facebook group for xLights I decided to go with Falcon so yesterday I ordered:

F48V5 Differential Controller
SRx4 Long Range Quad Smart Receiver
SRx2 Long Range Dual Smart Receiver

  • I plan on ordering another SRx4 but is there anything else you guys would suggest?
  • The Smart Receiver I assume are OK to be used with Meanwell LRS-600? I only saw mention of the 350's
  • What power supply should I have for the F48V5 since it's not pushing pixels, just the main hub
  • What waterproof box is recommended for these to fit comfortable with 1 or 2 power supplies and the board?

Thank you in advance.

The F48 and the Falcon Controllers in general are great controllers. One thing to consider is that if you have any dense props like a Mega Tree or Pixel matrix, you will probably want a "local Port" type
controller for those.
This might help you understand the differences and advantages.

In response to your questions
1. Pigtails for the controllers. RJ45 connectors if you want to make custom length cables. There aren't a lot of choices on sizes of those. The pass-through connectors work great.
2. Yes, the Receiver will only "pull" the current it needs.
3. A small 5V power supply is all you need. Something like an RS15
4. There are so many variations depending on your location and availability. Ammo boxes are common, along with various storage boxes from places like Harbor Freight.
If to err is human, I am more human than most people.

Thank you for your reply and yes that video was very helpful. For the last couple of days something was lost with my thought process and sure enough after watching that video my instincts were right, I need to get at least 1 F16V5 Pixel Controller and grab a few F8-Distro. Thanks again.
