These cards seem to cost 3 times the amount that the ColorLight cards cost, is there any advantage to using them?  Unless we have the spec for the protocol, I can't see anyone wanting to spend the time to reverse engineer the protocol and write code unless there is some major advantage to using the card over using the ColorLight cards we support now.

Current understanding:

1. Create sequence in Xlights (or facsimile)
2. Upload Xlights file to FPP
3. Play sequence from FPP

Is this correct?

I've installed Xlights, looking for links to CURRENT help for getting started.  I've watched a couple of videos but they are old enough that the menu doesn't even match up with my screens....

Any ideas, links, thoughts?

But I have question: did some ever manage to configure Huidu controllers for LEDPanels ians make them work with FPP?

I have a HD-C16C, till now I didnt manage to make them work with FPP.

I'm not aware of anyone doing performance testing as such, on a Pi 4 I imagine you can do way more than 200 universes.

I am doing about 1000 universes on a Pi 4 combined across virtual matrix, colorlight and E1.31 and it doesn't seem to be breaking a sweat. E1.31 is around 150 universes of that.

Hey All,

Has anyone seen how many universes a single FPP (3 and/or 4) can accommodate?  It crossed my mind when I started planning for this coming season and noticed that my universe total is now over 200 on a single FPP broadcasting in unicast.  I'm thinking the old number of a model 2 was mid 200's so I'm guessing the 3's and 4's would be even more.

OK,

Moving right along, I'm sending packets!!  Tried some display testing and it's all working quite nicely.  6000 packets and no errors received by the san device.

San device IP = 192.168.0.50
FPP = 192.168.0.13

As a bonus I've been able to identify everything on my network (lots of stuff!)

I'm ready to move on to some manual and or copied sequencing.

Still working with my single 100 bullet string.

I believe my issue is that the San Device was not given a static IP address and couldn't be located. 

This is the networking part of the equation and can sometimes be a bit difficult to comprehend. Every device needs a "name" (IP address/Host Name) and that name needs to be unique. They don't need to be static names but that sometimes helps. But with static "names" you need to take precautions that your router does not assign the same "name" to another device. This might help? 

I've now successfully done that and I'm able to run test patterns on the pixel string attached to the e682.

What is the IP address of the e682?

So, direct me to the manual instructions that help me understand how to have the FPP and E682 communicating.

That will depend on what is your definition of communicating is? I have a feeling that you mean sending E1.31 data? If so, https://falconchristmas.github.io/FPP_Manual(6.0).pdf#page=107

You might want to jump into the Zoom room...that is probably the best resource for help.

Question, why are you building that way?  Is the space physically limited to those heights on different columns?  If not, you are going to kick yourself somewhere down the road for not making something more resembling a rectangle.

BTW, for your education, although you are asking specifically about a Falcon controller - which is highly configurable, some pixel controllers from other manufacturers have different levels of configuration capability.  So if you were to buy some other controller, you need to be aware of the capabilities of that particular controller.  For example some controllers can not use absolute addressing, and some controllers can not have a pixel split between two universes.  Very few other controllers can drive 1,000+ pixels on a string.
