I am looking at the ability to trigger sequences remotely for my show without a dedicated playback controller.  I need the ability to trigger the playback of a sequence stored on the SD card of a F16V5 remotely at different points in the show.  I would love to do this via MIDI, but I am thinking just a simple computer based program would do as well, or an ESP32 with some buttons attached for starting/stopping specific sequences.

TLDL;  Is there any API or documentation on triggering sequence playback on the controller remotely?  I am a programmer by trade and believe I can automate a lot of what the team wants to do without having to jump into using an FPP.  Python script, anything that shows how to send the packets would be helpful.

Thanks,
Curtis

Two suggestions not to your real question.

1. xSchedule can handle play on demand. If you can create fseq files, you can put them in a playlist and select them to play. I think you would need a PC connected to your controller for this option but you can play the fseq right from the scheduler or maybe trigger a remote controller.

2. Check out JukeBox as part of xLights. It is little used but fits pretty good to having a button to play an effect.

To your question. The documentation of the FPP sync is on the github

How are you going to power this display on the field?
You will also need wifi to control the display.

For my show i have a private network Wifi that allows me to connect to it using my Phone or Ipad.
The network is Christmas_Lights
I connect to the network and then in a browser connect to the Master / Player Pi.
Once connected I can play anything in a playlist.
