Looking for some updates on the F16v2-R controller firmware.  I recall there was a planned firmware release to add the 'slider' feature like on the F16v3 to support 1024 pixels per port even when using the EXPANSION board.   Is this firmware available?
I am running F16v2-R with firmware v1.11 b006.   All is well but I really want to change my pixels/channels/universes to have 1024 ports on the expansion ports and 0 ports on the main board... just like what the F16v3 can do.

Is this available?  I could not find it in the download section.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for any help.Dave

The firmware file(s) you want are at:  https://github.com/dpitts/f16v3_issues/

specifically, the V2-R is up to b022

whether or not it has sliders? Mine in packed away and needs the update, so I don't know.

THANK YOU for this link.  I have now successfully upgraded my F16v2-R to firmware version b022.   After downloading the new firmware (via USB cable) into the F16v2-R seemingly successfully via the Windows loader program... after powering-up once download was complete... the little OLED screen was blank.    I was so worried the upgrade failed... but when I connected to it over Ethernet via browser, it WAS there and running.   But no screen.   Then I read on the forum others had this problem after upgrade, and needed a RESET back to factory defaults.   So I did that step (holding the SEL button down during powerup) and the OLED screen came to life and showed the version and uptime as usual.  Whew!
After setting its fixed IP address, and reboot, I can see that this new firmware DOES include the slider on the OUTPUT SETTING page for STRING PORTS!  Yes!  This slider allows me to adjust the pixel counts between the MAIN BOARD output ports (ports 1-16) and the EXPANSION BOARD output ports (17-32).  Wonderful.

Now my question:  The F16v2-R with the older version b011 firmware only supported 680 pixels TOTAL across the 16 MAIN BOARD PORTS, or, when using one EXPANSION BOARD, the pixels were divided evenly across both the MAIN BOARD and EXPANSION BOARD ports at 340 pixels each for the same total of 680.

So I have been limited to only connect a max of 340 pixels on each of my 16 EXPANSION BOARD output ports (17-32).

IS IT NOW TRUE that this F16v2-R controller can now support 1023 pixels on each of the 16 EXPANSION BOARD PORTS (as the slider seems to allow)... with 1 pixel allowed on the MAIN PORTS?

(The slider does not allow me to set 0 pixels for the MAIN BOARD... minimum is 1... and then 1023 pixels for the EXPANSION ports)

It this is true, this greatly increases the total number of PIXELS this F16v2-R supports (from 10,880 total pixels on the original F16v2-R) to now support 1024*16 = 16,384 pixels (like the F16v3) !
Can someone CONFIRM this?   Awesome if true and just what I needed!

Thanks so much.Dave

Did you ever get a reply? I am debating whether to upgrade my F16V2 firmware.

The F16v2 processor can't handle as many pixels as the F16v3. It is an older processor and just isn't as capable.

In the PPD club, they invited David Pitts into one of our webinars and he mentioned that he was planning on coming out with a firmware update to the V2 boards to support more pixels than 340/port (with expansion).  I don't recall what exactly David said in regards to how many pixels per port will be supported with the firmware update.  I did send him an email though.

Ug I just ran into this....I was testing with a f4v3 but my matrix setup (576 pixels) i was just hoping to run off a f16v2.....would make it so much easier but guess I may just have to deploy the f4 too.

I just got a reply from David, he said the firmware update allows a max of 1024 pixels/port with expansion.  He noted that the V2 can only handle one expansion board whereas the V3 can handle two.  He also noted the firmware update is a beta and recommended to play around with it after Christmas as he can't vouch for the stability.

I don't know if I want to try it for this Xmas or not.  May have to buy another V3.

Any idea where I can pickup the software that allows me to upload the b022 firmware update?    I thought I had it on my PC but not able to find it...   TIA.

Never mind.  Found it.   Forgot you have to login as admin to run it....   Arrgh.   Uploading "as we speak"...

Did anyone run this upgraded firmware for their Halloween show?

If so, can you let us know if there were any problems related to this firmware update?

I have updated to Bo22 and when test mode is checked it freezes in test mode. the only way to stop it is to unplug the controller. any ideas what is happening.

This sounds familiar. Be sure the F16 isn't receiving any data from xLights or an FPP while you put it in test mode (simplest way is to unplug the CAT5 input)

I did just upgrade my F16v2Red to the b022 firmware.

After getting it all configured, I did put it in test mode.

It has not frozen (yet), but I'm also not sending data to it from anything.

Hi Jonb, just wondering if there is any updates to the testing you have done?  Any success?  Any lock ups?
