Last year my pi was running hot! Christmas in new Zealand is our summer.

So just looking at the official pi4 case fan accessorie.

Does FPP know how to control this fan..or am I better with a dumb fan?

This is what I'm looking at

All of my RasPi computers have a dumb fan on them.
Using LOR (mostly SuperStar) for all sequencing - using FPP only to drive P5 and P10 panels.

I have not seen an option in FPP to control the fan speed/temp.  Nothing is mentioned in the manual either.  Sometimes cases will come with cheap loud fans, but you can typically replace it with a better one if annoying.

Fans are generally controlled by a PWM (pulse width modulation) signal. Except for the upgrade to 12vdc instead of 3.3v or 5v, shouldn't an I2C output controlled by a Plug-In work?

I must mention that I don't know squat about writing a plug-in to do that. :)
