Now into my 4th year with the F16V3 controller setup and Xlights.
This time I'm getting NO IP address (0.0.0.0.) on the controller LED window. I tried flipping it to static and DHCP with no luck.
I have ruled out the ethernet cables and have tried both ethernet connectors, again with no luck. I also get no light on the controller ethernet port.

I have reviewed previous posts with the same issue - NO IP address (0.0.0.0.).  These were posts from 3 to 4 years ago with no solution.

I am reaching out to the forum for advise on how to resolve this issue. God Bless and have a wonderful day.

Romeo.

Seems like the F16V4 will show a static IP even if there is no cord plugged in, but I could be remembering wrong.  Plug the feeder cable directly into a laptop and confirm it works on your laptop.  Does wireless work?(testing only)

Minus a cabling issue.  You could try reinstalling your firmware.  Seems like the firmware on those are difficult to reinstall, and you might need to downgrade to an older firmware version, and then upgrade back to current.

I have not seen that issue, or recall seeing that issue on the forum, so this is only shotgun generic advice.  It is certainly possible the board has gone bad.  You might reach out to Falcon support, at least in the past, they still would answer questions on older products.

Thank you for the reply JonD. I have reached out to David by email yesterday to ask his opinion on this issue.

I truly hope the problem can be resolved as I have a large following in my neighborhood and everyone looks forward to seeing my pixel light show annually!!

I have a question regarding the ethernet port light not on. Could this be caused by a power issue on the board based on the below info?

The OLED display and count down clock works, all the pixel output fuse lights are on and the test menu pattern turn on all my pixel lights.

darylc

Yes, power issues can cause the ethernet port not to work.

RTED

Can a power issue cause the ethernet port not to work considering the OLED display and count down clock work, all the pixel output fuse lights are on and the test pattern turn on all my pixel lights?

If so, Is there a way to check this problem on the board with a multimeter?

JonD

The on-board network card can go bad.  Not super common, but I have seen others report it.  I had a similar issue with a F16v4.  Sent it to David, and he said there was no repairing it.  Seems like if the network card is not working, your odds are not great, but David would be the better person to tell you that.  With the F16v4 there are some lights on the board that will indicate issues, but not sure they exist on the F16v3.

The F16v4 should fit in the same case and you can pick them up used worse case.

RTED

Thanks again for the reply.

I don't mind getting the F16V4 controller. My only issue is I also have an expansion board with 16 outputs. I noted the F16V4 expansion port connector is different from the F16V3 expansion port connector.

Is it possible to get a used F16v3?

JonD

Used F16v3s exist, but are a little hard to find this time of year.  I would like to find some more F4V3s and search for them on occasion.  You might check the LOR forums and Etsy if you haven't looked.  Ebay of course.

The expansion board on the F16v4 is different, but you can get one for the F16v4.  I don't think there is an expansion board for the F16v5, but you can use an SR expansion for those.

RTED

Hi JonD,

Once again I thank you for your reply. You are a great asset to this forum. God Bless!
