I have an F16V2R with an expansion board.  Last year, I used only the main board, but this year I want to use the expansion board as well.

I'm running 12VDC on both halfs of the main board and 5VDC on both halfs of the expansion board.

I don't have it hooked up to a computer at this time.  I'm just trying to see the test patterns.

When I plug a string of 100 5VDC pixels into any of the 16 ports of the expansion board, all 100 pixels light up white and stay lit.  I tried all 16 ports.

When I try to run the test pattern by pushing the button on the main board, nothing happens.  The pixels stay lit.

I checked the wiring connections and they are all OK.

I tried the string on a small inline controller and the test patterns run fine.

I tried a 12V string on the main board and the test patterns run fine.

Questions:

  • Do I need to connect the controller to a computer to tell it that it has an expansion board?
  • Should the test pattern work on both the main board and the expansion board, even when the expansion board is on 5VDC?
  • Should the pixels come on and stay on when I  plug them into the expansion board?
  • Any suggestions what I could try next?

Thanks for your help.

Forgot to mention that the ribbon cable is connected between main board and the expansion board.

That worked, I forgot that last year, I set up the ports on the expansion board with zero pixels, in the port configuration screen.

All is well with the world once again.
