I have just released the updated version of fpp-after-hours that now installs on FPP v8 and is backwards compatible from FPP v7.0 up.

I am hoping anyone who uses it on v7 or is testing v8 can give it a whirl and let me know if any bugs show up for them.

Improvements are:
-Completely redesigned UI that is responsive and edits are live (in most cases)
-Updated prerequisite installer that shows real time status of the install progress (same method that fpp update uses)
-All data and control is now handled by the fpp-after-hours API
-Updated help pages that parse out the readme.md file and display it live with images and table of contents links (available offline)
**the readme.md file is still being worked on and will be completed in the next few days (currently missing API endpoint details)
-change to how streams are tested for connectivity
-updated all scripts to work properly with php 8 (and remain backwards compatible)

For quick reference here are two stream I have been testing with:
Radio X-Mas                http://77.75.16.229:443
Halloween Hit Radio     https://halloween-hit-radio.stream.laut.fm/halloween-hit-radio

Thanks,
Jason

I have it running on FPP 7.5 and v8.
Basic install and run seems to be functioning as expected so far.
2 notes:
1: Volume cannot be set before starting stream and resets to 100% after stopping and starting.
2: (Request) Would be nice to have some type of indicator on the home screen to show it is running.

I use and am testing with
Miller Home Stream

One thing to consider is to change it to use FPP Commands. It is a simple process and makes it so much easier to use!

Volume can be set once known on each individual stream row and it will use that volume on start (or are you talking the system volume?)

Is there a hook available to push plugin details to the main screen?

Interesting, I didn't realize we could plug into those... I will make this change for sure!

FPP Commands code has been added and documentation completed.  Thanks for that suggestion, it is much easier for the end user!

When After Hours is not running, it logs this every minute.

I had to rebuild my pi and am trying to get this part working. Running the latest full release but cannot get past the installing additional software screen. I get here:
Hit:1 http://raspbian.raspberrypi.org/raspbian bullseye InRelease
Hit:2 http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian bullseye InRelease
Reading package lists...
Building dependency tree...
Reading state information...
120 packages can be upgraded. Run 'apt list --upgradable' to see them.

fpp-after-hours additional software installation complete

and restart FPPD but then am requested to install extra components again. The set up screen flashes for a moment but then goes back to the red screen asking for additional components

What version of FPP?

I think when I had a similar problem, I just re-imaged my SDCard, did all updates, then tried to install the plugin. It worked after the directories were back to base install. I think Jason had a fix by deleting some data in the directories and that caused the additional software to reinstall and update the config correctly but it is so easy to just re-image, I do that.

ckuhner

I don't have the number handy but it's the latest non beta build. I just reimaged so I'm hoping to avoid that again if possible.

MikeKrebs

As you might have seen, reboot the RPi and try again. Give it time and check if it installs.

ckuhner

Still no luck. Have rebooted and reinstalled multiple times and still can't find success. Hopefully one of the devs will pop by and offer some advice, but we are months away from when it matters so I'm not worried. Just trying to complete the todo list before things get busy

Can you post a screenshot of what the issue is?
