Remote Player with two players the same network

This issue may have been resolved earlier for other versions of FPP.  I'm currently running version 8.3.1 on three FPP:
1) a stand alone FPP (in Player mode) setup to display several videos to inform folks of radio station freq, and other messages.  It is on the show wireless network for simple stuff like status checking, potential new video additions etc.

2) Master FPP that runs the lightshow on two networks: wireless and Eth0.  the Eth0 port goes to a switch that communicates with 12 SanDevice controllers.

3)A FPP in Remote mode that should be sync'd to the master.  This Pi is connected to a projector that runs videos only that is associated with the Master FPP sequences.  Input/output tab is empty.

ISSUE: the remote FPP will not run the videos.  Can someone please recommend, in some detail, how I should configure the various pi's.  Currently the remote Pi has all of the sequence and media files uploaded.  And the file names do match the Master FPP playlist.  The attachments are screen shots of the Master FPP multisync page and the network page.

If your remote is only playing videos, then you do NOT want the sequences or audio files on that device. And the video on the remote has to be named to match the AUDIO source of the sequence with the exception of the extension.

Human Error on the attachments.

Thanks for the reply Rick.  The "Video only" is a stand alone.  Not a remote.  it's set to "player".  Works fine as a sign.  FPP label is 'TVFPP'

The Remote needs to sync'd with the master.  But it will not play the media video associated with the master sequence.  it "sees' both player FPP. Remote label is 'FPPUpstairs'.

All these files are associated with the MasterFPP.

I completely shutdown the FPP for the standalone pi.  Still doesn't work.

Just to clarify things, a device can ONLY be a Player or Remote (Bridge mode for non-FPP based controllers.
There is no Master mode, that was deleted a long time ago because of the confusion)

A Remote will sit idle until some outside source tells it what to do.
A Player will start/stop and coordinate your schedule. If there are remotes, then the Player can be configured to output the appropriate data to each remote. (each remote might need a different type of data so you have to configure the different types if needed)

Are you sure that the Outputs Tab is empty? There are a ton of errors in the MultiSync page that says otherwise!

Can you post a screenshot of your File Manager page on your FPPUpstairs FPP showing your Video page?
Just a FYI, after you upload the Screenshot, you can insert it so that it can be visible on the page.

LOL, one has nothing to do with the other.

Thanks Rick,
I use the name of the FPP as Master-FPP4...it runs in player mode not remote or master.

Yes the remote output page is quite empty.

How do I configure the FPP's?

I thought the errors were due to having loaded the sequences on to the remote.  I removed the sequences and I don't get any error messages.

Sorry I wasn't able to insert a visible screenshot (Mac?) How?

What about "pixel overlay Models"

Like I said, there is NO Master mode.

I don't think it was at the time of the multiSync screenshot, but that is fine, it isn't there now.

We will get into that later.... you are actually close right now.

Quote from: SCUBA on December 06, 2024, 03:07:50 PMI thought the errors were due to having loaded the sequences on to the remote.
No, those errors were because there were outputs enabled, but yes, you do not want sequences on an FPP that is only playing videos.

Thank you so much for providing the needed information! It really helps. I forgot one screenshot, post a screenshot of your playlist page from your Main Player.

Rick, Please see the attachment as requested:  You cannot view this attachment.

Thank You.  BTW: did you see the other posting I uploaded about the error message I was getting?  These files play well on a third party video player.  I also used  Handbrake to re-format the files as MP4 (they were MP4 originally).

Thanks again
John

Rick figured out the upload issue... the file name had a leading "space".  All good!

Poporacer

How did you get your MP4 files onto FPP in the first place if there was a space in the original file name?
I think the problem is due to your naming with the space. It looks like you might have created the sequence with a file name for the audio that had a space in the beginning. Linux (the operating system behind the scenes in FPP) handles special characters differently than Windows computers and special characters in file names have been a problem so the developers have gone to great lengths to try and "fix" people's mis-use of special characters and this caused the problem.
I would go to your mp4 files on your computer and delete any special characters in them to include leading spaces. And then open each sequence and change the audio source to the correct fixed file.
Delete all mp4s from both the player and remote.
FPP Connect and upload your sequences and media.

I am curious why all of your audio files for your sequences are mp4? Does your player output video as well?
