I have a Renard board ( http://www.renard-plus.com/renardplustr24.html ) which I hooked up to the DMX2 port on my F48v3 controller. I got it to work by creating a special cable based on other people's input, i.e. you only need 4 conductors of the 8 conductor cable and you put

F48 pin 1 to TR24 pin 5
F48 pin 2 to TR24 pin 4
F48 pin 7 to TR24 pin 1
F48 pin 8 to TR24 pin 2

Are there any cables or other (ideally waterproof) solutions that can accommodate this? Of does anybody have experience with using renard board with the F48. One person told me that he uses a regular Ethernet patch cable but he uses an F16 and I am not sure what Renard board (I guess the pinout on his Renard board might be different).

The DMX to Renard "dongle" merely swaps DMX pins 2 and 1 with pins 4 and 5 on a standard ethernet cable.  Typically, you just rewire a standard ethernet cable using a RJ45 "pass through" male plug (or female jack, depends on your layout) to match the Renard protocol wiring.  Ethernet orange stripe/solid orange go to the Renard pin 1 and 2, respectively, and ethernet solid blue/blue stripe go to Renard pin 4 and 5, respectively.

If you're trying to keep things waterproof, I'd probably wire short cable to a female jack, with the female jack matching the Renard protocol pinout, then use a standard ethernet cable to connect to the Renard controller.  The female connector will be inside with the F48.  You can spend the money on a direct burial ethernet cable and run it to the Renard controller,You cannot view this attachment. if you like.

Saving this one; I want to connect a Renard to my F16 next year.
