Pause (and manually resume) after each playlist item

I'm hoping to use FPP as a prop controller, using a GPIO pin to trigger the next item in a playlist, pausing after each item.

I currently have the playlist set up as this:

  • Sequence: FSEQ1
  • FPP Command: Pause Playlist
  • Sequence: FSEQ2
  • FPP Command: Pause Playlist
  • ...
  • Sequence: FSEQ10
  • FPP Command: Pause Playlist

However, when the playlist is triggered, the 'Pause Playlist' commands do nothing, so each sequence gets played automatically one after the other without stopping.

What am I missing that is preventing this working? Is there another way to achieve this?

Instead of "telling" us how your playlist is built, can you show us with a screenshot of the playlist? (please, a screenshot and NOT a picture of your screen) You can't use the quick reply to add attachments, or you can preview your reply to get the attachment link.
I have an idea what the problem might be, but I don't want you to go down a rabbit hole if there is no rabbit.

Please see below (with version info for good measure).

Awesome....That makes it perfectly clear.
So, you are using an FPP command to pause the Playlist. I don't think that it will work from within a playlist. in your scenario, what would be the effect if they were already at the end of the playlist? There would be no more items to play and you would be dead in the water?
Does the sequence order matter?

I copy my christmas playlist and add a pause command between each sequence every year.  I use that playlist when I try to video my show.  The pause gives me time to stop and restart the camera and/or make any adjustments I want to make with my camera.  What I do not know and have not tried is if there is some way to manually end the pause and what the maximum time is that I could specify in that "playlist command".  Maybe a modification to that "playlist command" would be what is needed here and not an "FPP command".  Just a thought.

The difference is that he is not using the playlist pause command, he is using the FPP pause command.  It would be nice if in the future someone would put some usable information in the FPP command help explaining what the commands do and how they work.

FPP 8 now shows help text (if it is available) for commands. The developers would appreciate help in writing the text for the rest of the commands.

I've updated the help for 'Pause Playlist' based on what we've learnt as a result of this thread https://github.com/FalconChristmas/fpp/commit/d5ad88de8820f18e755bdce9653ed1878804709d

The sequence order matters only in that each sequence must execute only once. I've excluded playing a random item from the playlist for that reason, as it could pick the same one more than once.

And when it get to the last item and then a button is pressed?

Nothing. After 10 different sequences, the prop is 'spent', so there's nothing else to do. Or it can even start over, but nothing much will happen.

I've redesigned the prop so that it now just needs to run the same sequence each time.
