It's a little more money for the pixels, but my thinking is.... I only want to build this once. I don't want to have it all up and stand back only to realize then I should have spent a couple extra dollars. I don't like to waste money unnecessarily but to me a couple hundred bucks extra is worth it to have it look good.

You're right. Coincidentally I am placing a large order with Ray today...

I did 4" spacing on my outlines with Rays C9 nodes which are basically a 12mm node with a small C9 cover that is actually closer to a real C7. 4" looks good and was not too close.  My house is 35-40' from the road. In this picture all the outlines of the windows, garage and roof are C9 at 4". The mega tree is 2".

i think it has to stay very low tech.

the bellows are a good idea too, certainly have to think of a way to use them that requires minimal effort too.

Somewhat related to this topic, so once I have my home made matrix (with Home Depot mesh) and figure out where I am power injecting, etc. Do I connect it directly to a smart receiver so it can be controlled by my F48? Hypothetically, lets say its a 600 pixel matrix using, perhaps two ports from such receiver.

I do not use a receiver but one port of a PiCap to run my 600 node window matrix (20 wide by 30 high).  I used five 120 node strings starting bottom left and going up and down. All my connections end up at the bottom. Power injected at node 240 and 480.  Works great.

Quote from: earsofvaal on May 10, 2018, 12:45:50 PMHello- New member here. Am trying to plan how to run diy matrices (about 3) made of 600-1000 pixels (not P10 boards).
I'm running 2 matrices with about 850 pixels in my display, both connected to an F48, and they are working with no issues.
Thanks,
