I dont have a virtual matrix on it. But i might have found a reference to remote pie I used to have on the system. I got rid of that.  Much appreciated for your input there.

For your other questions, FFPD just shows stopped with the big red bar showing abnormal conditions.

The system is on debian BBB 2024-09 fpp 8.1.
When it does this I have to restart it manually or even full power cycle as sometimes the web client gets hung up. The system does power off nightly.

Looking at fppd.log powered on tonight at 4:56. It then boots and starts the hour long sequence that is on repeat. 5 minutes later fppd shows main loop compete, shutting down.

Yesterday I installed fppdwatcher to try to keep it running. Ultimately i guess that did not work, but I think fppd watcher kicked in and restarted fppd as the boot log begins right away. then im not sure whats happening.  In the code snippet below you can see the time jump from 17:05 to 19:12. The logs at 19:12 is my manual interaction when I checked on it.

After thinking about it, I think that problem is that you have the Inputs enabled on FPP when you are testing from xLights.
If you have the inputs enabled, when you send data to your controller, FPP will pass the data directly to the controller AND because FPP is configured to send data to the controller, it is receiving double data just milliseconds apart

Thanks for the responses.
I have been away from home and am now back.
I held down S2 and powered on and all I get is the power light to turn on.  Never see the other indicator lights flash.
I unplugged power and the BBB booted into its old state (previous v3.3 install).
I formatted SD card and placed new image of Ver 8 on the SD card, held s2 and applied power, same issue - only power light.
Am I stuck with v3.3 on my BBB?

Quote from: danno045 on October 08, 2024, 08:48:05 PMI can ping the controller with my laptop and verified that it has a valid IP address.
A return Ping just means that there is "some" device at that address, it doesn't mean it is what you think it "might" be.

Quote from: danno045 on October 08, 2024, 08:48:05 PMI also switch my home wifi router and that my be an issue.
That is very likely.

Quote from: danno045 on October 08, 2024, 08:48:05 PMPlease let me know if you have any ideas or see something I am doing wrong. I can provide more info if need be.
How about a little more information on your setup? How many controllers?
It looks like you are running your F16 in Player mode? Do you have an SD card in it, and set it to Player mode?
What happens if you power down your F16 and then try to ping it?

Thanks should be good now.

Dan,
I Got one of your K40 controllers last year and it worked great. I worked with the zoom group and figured the network chip went out. I need to see what I need to do to send it back in for repair if I can. I did order a new one but I would like to see what I need to do to replace the one that stopped working. I upgraded it to 7.5.5 on the bench and it was connecting to my network, I took it out and connected it to my f16v3 using a comscope factory cable and I couldn't connect. What can I do about my issue. I left about three messages on your website. Help with the one that stopped working.

Falcon PiCap / Re: PiCap V2 & DMX

Which protocol are you selecting?  Assuming this is similar between the PiCapV1 and V2, be sure to use DMX-Open as the port has the correct wiring, but there is not firmware to support it. DMX-Open provides the software that is needed.

Check that you are NOT using both FPP in play mode at the same time you have it set to play (output to lights) from xLights.  Both hitting the controller(s) have the capability to cause a "fast flicker".

Quote from: efiten on Today at 12:43:04 PMWithout FPP, playing a sequence (or even a single effect on a prop) with "output to lights" on works perfectly.
Can you explain what this means? How is everything connected before and after you "have FPP?

Quote from: efiten on Today at 12:43:04 PMWith PFF in between,
Explain what FPP in between means?

Quote from: efiten on Today at 12:43:04 PMsequences play, with the correct layout & colors, but everything flickers fast.
How are you playing the sequences? From xLights, from FPP itself?
What version of FPP?
What other controllers do you have? Type and model.

Quote from: efiten on Today at 12:43:04 PMWhen I upload the sequence to FPP, it plays perfect, without flickering.
And where are you playing it from? FPP or xLights?
If it plays perfect from FPP, then it is working!! ??
