I'm using the Player on my F16v4, and have just updated the firmware to "Falcon_16_V4_Firmware_32.fl3". My playlists will only play the first song, then stop (not advancing to next). I can click "next" in web interface to advance the song. This is a new issue that wasn't present in older firmwares. The debug error I get is a bunch of lines of:

000057690 380047c0 player Duplicate request for frame ... skipped reading.

I've tried different FSEQ versions (v1, v2 uncompressed, v2 zlib), uploaded fresh WAV files, but the issue keeps happening. I'm uploading via the web interface (xlights doesn't connect via FPP on my computer... maybe a mac issue).

I've reached out to support as well.

Unfortunately, @JonD I don't think there is any way to go back in firmware versions (tried flashing older versions, throws an error), unless you have a method?

I have not upgraded to 32 yet, but I have downgraded firmware versions in the past.  Have you tried using the SD card method, and resetting the controller before upgrading?

    Reset on Power Up
  • Power off your controller and wait at least 20 seconds before proceeding.
  • Hold down ONE of the following button combinations to reset the controller into one of the modes.  Keep holding the button(s) down while applying power to the controller, and the OLED indicates it is resetting, and then release the button(s).  Do not continue to hold the button(s) down for a longer period of time or the controller may get stuck in a reboot loop.  Should that occur, power down the controller and then try again.
  • Select (SEL) only - Reset into 16 Local Port Mode (Figure A-1)
  • Select (SEL) and Left Arrow - Reset into 32 Port Mode (16 + 16 Local Port Mode) (Figure A-3)
  • Select (SEL) and Right Arrow - Reset into 48 Port Mode  (16 + 16 + 16 Local Port Mode) (Figure A-7a)

    Firmware Update via MicroSD Card
This method requires hands on access to the controller in order to insert and remove the SD card.  This does not require that the controller be accessible via the web interface, so it can be completed when the controller is disconnected from the network and/or internet.

You will need:
  • MicroSD card (not included)
  • New Firmware Build for F16v4 (Section 5.1)

To perform the Update:
  • Install the MicroSD card in the computer.
  • Delete any existing falcon firmware files (.fl3) from the MicroSD card.  Other file types can remain on the card.
  • Download the new firmware for the F16v4 (Section 5.1).  Note that if firmware is downloaded for another controller type, it will not load onto the F16v4.
  • Copy the firmware file (.fl3) from the computer to the MicroSD card.  The file must be installed into the root director of the MicroSD card, not in any folder.
  • Eject the MicroSD card from the computer and install it into the MicroSD slot on the F16v4.  The label on the card faces the right side, and the flat side of the card faces the top of the board.
  • Do ONE of the following:
  • Power up the controller (if it is not currently powered up).
  • Power down the controller and power it back up.
  • Reboot the controller.  This can be done in several different ways, including pressing and holding the Test/Boot Button on the controller for 5 seconds.
The OLED on the controller will then indicate that it is Copying Files from the MicroSD card to the controller memory, and the progress of the file transfer will be shown.  This should take less than 1 minute to copy.
  • When the file copy is complete, the OLED will show the following message "Remove SD Card or Press Select to Delete FL3 file."  When this message is displayed, do ONE of the following:
  • Remove the SD card - This is advantageous if multiple controllers are being updated as the same MicroSD card can then be inserted into the next controller while the current controller completes the update.  No buttons need to be pressed for this, and the controller should NOT be powered down, the MicroSD card simply needs to be removed.
  • Press the Select (SEL) Button on the controller - This is useful if other files for the controller are also being stored on the MicroSD card.  This will delete the FL3 file on the MicroSD card, and complete the installation.  Deleting the FL3 file from the MicroSD card is needed so that the controller does not try to reinstall the update on the next reboot or power cycle.
The OLED will indicate the status of the firmware update.  This should take less than 2 minutes to complete.  Do not power down the controller or touch any of the buttons during the update.
  • Once the update is completed the OLED will return to the Falcon logo, and then the status page.  The Build version on the OLED (Section 4.1.1.3) will display the version which was just installed.
