K8-B EEPROM Install?

I have a K8-B that I am trying to install FPP 6.3 onto it.  I am trying to figure out what cape to set it to.  I get an error message that it is unable to fetch GPIO info.

I tried installing the F8-B Virtual EEPROM but only to get the error message:

Upgrading firmware....
Blank EEPROM, overwriting=====
Running fppcapedetect:
Using /sys/bus/i2c/devices/2-0050/eeprom
EEPROM header miss-match
Finished, please reboot.

Why? I thought you said that you had a K8-B? They are not even the same manufacturer... Doing that will cause problems.

It sounds like you might have an incorrectly configured EEPROM, contact the Vendor or Dan Kulp to get the correct version.

Reason I tried the F8-B was the instructions manual that Dan referenced on his site points to the F8-B-Manual.pdf file.  If there was a K8-B users manual, I wouldn't have tried that one.

I fell for that as well. Set xLights to say it was an F8 instead of K8.  Not good.
Make sure your firmware matches your hardware.  Make sure your settings in the sequencer match as well.

As you now know, being directed to that manual was for functionality.
Sequencers: Vixen3 and xLights
Players: FPP and xSchedule Controllers:  Renards - SS24/SS16; E1.31 - San Devices E682 - Falcon F16, F4, F48 - J1Sys - DIYLEDExpress E1.31 Bridges.  Much more!

Dan Kulp does have a F8-B.  Before he adopted the K, he was all F's.

You are right, I was tired when I responded. He didn't make an F16-B... I should know I actually have 3 F8-B that were purchased in his initial Group Buy!

That makes sense..

I emailed Dan last night and he responded this morning with the proper EEPROM file.  Will give it a go after I finish work.  Thank you everyone!

No worries! Come back if you need anything else!

Where can I find the EEPROM file for the K8-Pi?

Are you using FPP 7? (AKA Master Branch right now)

I've been slowly adding to various eeprom firmwares to:
https://kulplights.com/firmwares/

as part of getting things setup for FPP7.   The current shipping boards are there, just haven't had a chance to go back and grab the older eeproms yet.

Thanks Dan.  I'm still trying to figure why my pizero recognizes the K8Pi but once I reboot, it 'forgets' it.  Going back to basics.

Have you expanded the storage on the SD card?

Is it only on reboot, or can it be a reconnect issue.  When connected to the K8Pi, point url to GOOGLE.COM, then back to the K8Pi IP address.  Did it reconnect?

Do you have Tethering ENABLED - should be "If no Connection" or "Disable"

Maybe send a screenshot of your Network INTERFACE SETTINGS screen.
