kulp k8-b and Renard, I can't figure it out

I have been running Vixen 2.5 for years with several Renard boards.  This year I have ventured into pixels; at least for the roof line.  Wanting to move to xlights, but having trouble setting that up with the Renards.
I have several renard controllers, daisy-chained that run house lights, a mega tree, several smaller trees.  New to me is the Kulp K8-B.
So far, on the IP I have FPP running the Kulp controller, and one renard that is attached to the Kulp in the USB slot with the FTDI adapter.  If I am in FPP, I can run a test and get both the Kulp and the Renard 64 running a test.
I have the Renard set up in FPP under OTHER, with the following settings: Output type: Renard,
Start Channel: 1, Channel count: 286, Description: Renard, Port: usb-1a86_USB_Single_Serial_54D2040136-f00->ttyACMO.
Like I said, this seems to be working when I hit the "Display Testing" mode.  All the pixels on the house roof-line work like they should, and the lights on the renard 64 are lighting up as if they are sending a signal to the cat5 socket.  I don't currently have any light strings plugged into them, but they are working.
My problem: I can't get xlights to recognize the renard controller.  At least fully.  It shows up if I click the add USB button with 512 channels and DMX protocol.  The Visualizer button does not highlight.  If If I try to add a port (COM 1) or change from DMX to Renard, the channel count goes fro 512 to 1.  And with either change, the visualizer button does not highlight.
If I change the vendor to FPP, then the visualizer button does highlight, the channels stay at 512.  When I click on the visualizer, I only get "Serial Port 1, and Channels 0"
Truthfully, I don't even know where to go.  KULP, xlights, FPP don't seem to have a spot where all 3 are being used together on YouTube.  I've gone through a LOTS of forum searches, and nothing is addressing what I need. At least I am encouraged that the KULP K8-B is communicating with the Renard locally.   Admittedly, I know almost nothing about xlights, but was hoping to get my controllers to show up there, and then start transferring my vixen files to run my show this year.

Is there someone that can guide me through this a bit?  I think my issue is with xlights, but I'm not sure what to do to remedy it.
Thanks!

Try this...in xLights, On the controller setup, chose Kulp and model K8-B. Click the visualizer.  Drag your renard prop to the serial port. Then right click the serial port and select protocol renard.
