LED Strings driving me crazy

I have a Kulp-K8 and BBB setup, with a Meanwell 12v power supply. I have a modest mega tree that uses 7 ports on the K8 (each with 100 bullet LEDs). I've replaced strings multiple times and I cannot explain the cause of the problem. The string will turn on but appears stuck on a color. Replacing the string works but shortly after the problem returns on a different string. This has happened across different ports (2,3,5). I've had to turn of the entire system because I am concerned that I'm damaging strings.
