So I have a project that doesn't involve xlights or christmas.  I'm using FPPs API to send some data to an led matrix as a timer for a local hobby amateur racing setup.  I have everything working great as single lines of txt centered using the overlay API, but we were hoping to split the matrix up into 2 screens to have the drivers name appear at the top in a smaller font, with the time below it.

I saw a post about splitting into sub matrices for xlights control from a few years ago, but is this possible to do the same using the API?  Even if there's some manual modifications that are needed, I should be able to handle that.

The main reason for using P10 displays is the brightness is a lot higher than ws2811 matrix, and it needs to be seen in the daylight.  FPP was the quickest and easiest way I found to throw txt up with multiple fonts/sizes etc...

Any help would be great :)

Go into FPP's Pixel Overlay Models config Ui and use the Add button to add a "SubModel" type.  Then you can add a bunch of submodels in different areas of your single physical matrix.  I started playing around with a scoreboard plugin for FPP which used this functionality to create a basketball scoreboard using FPP, but I started running of out time for all my FPP ideas.  If you'd like to explore it or help push it forward I'm happy to assist.

Check out this post for some screenshots of what I was playing with.  This is one physical matrix with lots of different submodels.  The matrix screenshot is a virtual matrix, but I was also testing on my Colorlight-driven P10 matrix.

That certainly puts me on the right track with this, but im not sure im setting the config up correctly.

It sees the sub panels, but it doesnt output anything to them.  It will still output to the main panel overall but not to the submodels

I wasn't able to find the scoreboard when searching plug-ins but I have the matrixtools plug-in.  I can enable and disable the led panels, but if I try to enable or disable the sub models it says its changing state ok, but never outputs anything to them.

Seems like im just missing something in the config somewhere

Disregard.  While trying to take screenshots to upload it found my mistake.  It was in the pixel ranges. Its all up and working exactly as I wanted it.
Thanks for the assist!
