Hi, I am moving from an older BBB controller to the new K8-PB.  I backed up the entire config on the old one and started restoring onto the new.  I mistakenly restored the BBB Strings instead of the Pixel Strings.  I realized my error and restored the pixel strings just fine, but now I have the message on the new controller as follows.  How do I remove this config?  Or do I need to reset and redo?

Thanks!

I found co-bbbStrings.json in the /config dir, can I simply remove it?  O should I clear the contents?

You can and it will likely get recreated on reboot if required.

Thanks, that cleared out the error and removed the good config.  I restored the pixel config .json but the pixel config in the new device was still blank so I recreated manually.  Is there a good methos to bring output configs over from differing devices?  Manually edit the .JSON to reflect the new device?

Probably the easiest (and best) method would be to upload your configuration from xLights
If to err is human, I am more human than most people.

Thanks, the config I was referring to was the local port definitions and ID assignments on the controller.

Lots to learn at least it was for me, but as poporacer stated xlights will do that for you.  Everything, strings, ports etc.  So all the work is done in xlights and not at the controller.

Interesting, I always set it on the controller and read it in xlights.  I have a spare controller now so maybe I'll play with that.

Thanks all

The easiest method to fix that error is to just go to the Strings page in FPP and hit "save".   The co-bbbStrings.json file (or co-pixelStrings.json on the Pi) contains the name of the configuration to use so a direct restore to a different controller wouldn't work as the device is different.   However,  a "Save" on the strings page will fix things up to use the right configuration and should validate/reset settings that may not be valid on the new device.
