Keebler

well i got part of my display up
this is the FIRST year i have had so much new technology.
the raspberry pi, 1.31 bridge, etc.
not too mention all the pixels... oh my goodness

anyway, got the first part of my display up and i went to test it..
wholly crap on a cracker, it is ghosting so dang bad, even the test sequences are not even able to be made out.

the components worked great inside even daisy chained together. get them outside and they go to crap.
the line up goes like this

yard tree 1 - 120 pixels
yard tree 2 - 120 pixels
yard tree 3 - 120 pixels
all on the first channel on the 1.31 bridge
the problem is
the the first say 150-175 pixels (1 and half trees) are a patriotic red white and blue horizontal stripes and WONT GO OFF.
the transmitter - worked fine indoors, take ti outside and there is so mush static can even hear the raspberry guy say the ip address.

i ran a new line from the FPP to the yard tree 1 thinking the line was bad or something (even though i checked it)
same thing.
by passed the first tree to see if the red white and blue stripes shifted down a tree or disappeared.. it shifted so it is IN THE DATA.

frustrated
maybe i need a time out
arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Keebler, what specifically is an "E131 bridge" ?

Is it the Falcon FPD board (ribbon cable attach to the Pi ?

I'm not clear on your setup between the Pi and the Pixels.

It is the FPP bridge mode that allows the Pi to received E1.31 packets from the computer, and sends the sequence data to the FPD and then to pixelnet/dmx to the controllers.

I've seen David use it on my setup to debug, so that is how I happen to know. :)

Steve, if that is the "bridge mode" , then I know about it - I was thinking that maybe Keebler had snuck in a SanDevices or J1Sys component in there somewhere.

I tried using Bridge Mode, driven by xLights and it worked, but I found it more convenient and just as stable to just use the Player Mode outputting to my FPD.

Totally freed up my sequencing PC (processing and especially audio) while the show ran.

I think he was talking about a hardware board. RPM bridge 4 port and dlovely (sp?) Has made a 6 port version. It takes E131 input and outputs dmx or renard. I would like to use it this year also. One cat5 out to the yard, switch to E131 controllers and bridge, bridge to renard controllers.
