First of all thank you for stopping by and checking out my post, for the past week or so I've been trying to figure this thing out. Last year everything ran perfect within the network, i was able to pull up the falcon controller by just typing in the ip address and even getting everything updated through Xlights. This year I updated the FPP firmware and OS since it was old. I got everything to with the exeption of getting the falcon controller web UI to come up when typing the address, the only way i can make it come up is if i go through the "proxy settings" and click on the link. I have been reading and watching tutorials which a lot are older but still the same concept, I just cant figure out what happened or what i did wrong this time around. I dont even get the green light in xlights since the controller's IP cannot be reached through the search bar. any tips are greatlly appreciated, I think i have it somwhat under control but dont want to mess with it more and really screw something up at this time close to the holidays. Thanks once again .

You probably need to change the FPP GUI setting to Advanced, then turn on IP forwarding on under the network settings.  This setting will stay if upgraded, but does not restore from a backup.

If you defined a Proxy, then you should be able to get to your F16 by typing the proper IP address....note. When using a proxy, the proper IP address will be something like  192.168.1.101/proxy/192.168.101.2 but change the first IP address to your FPP device and the second one to your F16.

Then you were not using a proxy, but maybe routing in either your Computer or router?

Did your IP address of your FPP or controller change? I have a feeling that last year you were not using a proxy and maybe your IP addresses have changed?

If you are using a Proxy, you have to enter the proxy IP address in the controllers configuration in xLights.

Just a FYI with a Proxy host, that is not needed.

That depends.  There are several proxy issues with Falcon that no one has fixed for months.

robledjl

Wow! thanks to everyone that replied really quick....I didnt even realized about the advanced UI, I was following a tutoral that mentioned to make sure that the proxy host was listed, but now with IP forwarding then im not sure which one would be better to keep? or just try them out to see if there is any changes.

http://192.168.1.100/proxy/192.168.1.50/index.htm <----- this is off the address bar from when i click on the proxy link.

I prefer proxy, but there are limitations.  There is a problem with the above link.  Both devices (192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.50) are on the same network, and if that is the case proxy is not needed.

Welp, I just did that and now I am able to view my controller by typing it's IP address, geez :-[ spent all saturday trying to figure this out when it was less than a minute to fix. Now, i just need to make sure everything else is talking to each other and save these settings again.

Just stopping by here again since I didn't want to open another thread, I've been reading about some fpp issues, with the help of the people above, I was able to get my setup back online, I'm just how having issues with connectivity. Seems like I have to reboot fpp or the pi constantly to keep working on my show. I reboot fpp and doesn't show eth0 just wifi, then I reboot again and it shows up, after a while working on xlights and when I want to see a preview.... The connection is lost again! I have to wait until I reboot again before I'm able to get fpp and falcon controller to talk. Has anyone else had this issue before? My wifi is great so I'm not sure if it's my pc or what. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you could be trying to use FPP AND xLights at the same time.  xLights will sometimes not release the lights, and then when FPP goes to use them there are issues.  You typically want the xLights setting "Output to Lights" always off when using FPP.  They don't share very well.

robledjl

Hey JonD, thank you for your input... I'll definitely check into that while using Xlights, although I've had the same issue even when xlights is not open. There are times where I try to test the lights via the falcon web interface and nothing happens because it's not showing the eth0 connection on fpp. I will post a picture shortly. Thank you.

JonD

Not suggesting you don't have other issues, but the xlights conflict will happen even if the program is no longer open.  You may need to reboot your xLights computer and not enable "Output to Lights" to resolve.
