Greetings from Nebraska.

I'm looking to get started with basic LEDs mounted to the roofline and gutters this year, with the opportunity to grow slowly over time.

This year to start, I just want to mount permanent LEDs as noted in Yellow on this picture, and a control box inside my garage at one of the red circles.

My plan is to permanently mount aluminum rails where designated in yellow, with 2813 LED strips inside (60 Pixels/Meter) using a 20v power supply and 20v to 5v stepdown converters. Total Linear distance would be 20 meters.

I have a few older Rasberry PI's sitting around (B+, 2B, 3B, Zero). I'd like to use one of these dedicated to the project.

As I understand it, I also need a pixel controller. This is the part where I'm struggling to find what I need. Seems there are limited options with multiple ports that offer 2 data wires, unless I'm willing to drop a couple hundred. I like the option of 4 wire strips as a level of protection in the event I have a pixel burn up for some reason.

It seems that 20 meters of the 2813's with 60 LED's a meter is just over 1200 pixels to control. So I would need a controller with at least 2 ports. and If I use the 2813's I need at least 2 ports that support dual data lines. Correct? Is there a pi hat capable I'm not finding? I would I need to shell out $250 for a bigger board like the Falcon 16?

Open to suggestions on everything I'm throwing out. If there are resources you feel I've missed reading or watching, please share. I'm trying to take in as much as I can.

Thanks.

I just added RGBW puck lights. For a controller, I chose a Dragon differential receiver from Mattos. The reason I chose this is it contains two receivers in one housing and has 8 ports total. I have them located strategically where I can form a T that drives the pucks left and right, one off of each receiver. The remaining unused 6 outputs can be used for spinners, etc...

I use a K8B or a Genius controller to the for the differential transmitter. I have Raspberry Pi in the Genius controller.
