Change you cape config to pihat dpipixels...

Now do the port 1 and port 2 act appropriately?

Steve

I've removed the DPIPixels eprom and installed the PiHat............ Good news it lights using the test option and performs as expects, so the issue is with the DPIPixels eprom config. I assume the PiHat option will not allow me to plug-in a 3.5mm jack socket to get the audio output?

I'll now remove the PiHat and try the DPIPixels again..... will report shortly

Thanks all

I've just removed the PiHat Eeprom and re-installed the DPIPixels Eeprom, guess what........ if i set channel 1 with the same settings (although limited to x50 leds, as I'm yet to install the licence) it does not control the lights, but if I change channel 3 down to 2 pixels it responds as expected.

I've since found another post on here that confirms this problem, looks like:
Port 1 on the Pi-Cap is port 3 on DPIPixels
Port 2 on the Pi-Cap is port 24 on DPIPixels

So, where does this leave me....

Well I assume that I could continue with DPIPixels and add the licence so i can add 300 pixels to a single channel and use the audio output jack on the Pi for my sync'ed audio

or

Should I use PiHat, but can i output the sync'ed audio?

Thoughts and comments very much welcomed, thank you.

Which Pi-Hat? That is the important question. There are almost 1400 reported FPP devices that are using a Pi-Hat and you are the first that I know of that is reporting this behavior.

I assume that you mean Port 1? Same Settings? What does that mean? What start channel and what pixel count?

Quote from: Steve on May 20, 2024, 01:47:23 PMit does not control the lights
So are you saying that no lights light up what so ever? Or just the lights connected to port 1?

So you have Ports 1 and 2 and 3 configured for 50 pixels and no lights work, but by simply reducing the pixel count on port 3 to 2 pixels, ports 1 and 2 start working?

Can you provide a link to that please?

Port, not channel

You can use either method. Like I mentioned earlier, you can use the PiHat with the RPIW28x protocol and still sync your audio. You will just need a Soundblaster adapter.

Interesting......... I'm using a Falcon PiCap's first set-up is on a Pi3B the same as you and the second setup uses a Pi4

Two questions,
1. How do i purchase a licence as i'm using over 50 pixels on each port? - Now sorted!
2. Does this allow me to use the onboard audio using the 3.5mm jack socket on the Pi or do I need a USB adapter, i need to output the music that the lights are synced to?

Thanks Mike

And did you see that the problem was due to the user installing the wrong EEPROM type and it was fixed when installed correctly?

Yes, that is what using the DPI Pixel protocol allows.

Not if you are using the DPI Pixels, but many people do not like the quality of the sound output from the Pi. (But there are several that love using it as well)
