Can an FPP Command Preempt a Sequence?

I would like to add a matrix to my show, but I'm wondering if a FPP Command like displaying a message about the current weather conditions in North Pole Alaska could be displayed in the middle of Here comes Santa Claus. While I have an extra controller, I would prefer to use it as a remote and not a player so I can sync song titles and lyrics(hopefully).

Displaying a non-background effect sequence or turning on a pixel overlay model can override the playing sequence.  If you don't want to override, you can check to see if anything is playing before displaying your text.
