Is the Pi 3B still supported on 7.1?

I'm asking because after upgrading from 6 to 7.1, FPP is very slow and unresponsive. I did a complete re-image. Even before I start configuring, it takes 30 seconds to 2 minutes for any of the webpages to load. I don't have any 4s around, but I do have a Zero W, and I experienced the same thing on that. All I've done is download the zipped 7.1 image and imaged it onto the Pi SD card.

Huh. I've been using FPP for about 7 years or so, and I've noticed quite a significant speed drop on both my Pis going from v6 to v7. I'm not sure what's going on if no one else is experiencing this. I've done a full re-image a couple of times now just to be sure, and it's consistent among both Pis. It's possible my Wifi connection is weak, and it's just the web frontend being slowly loaded. I'll try it in access point mode and see if it gets better.

That is more than likely your problem

I agree with Poporacer (and you) that your own wifi is most likely the issue.  I have 12 FPP remotes using multiple versions of Pis including PiZeroWs plus Beagles.  I recently replaced my 4 yr old router for that problem, although that was primarily due to home network issues and not my show network.  Take a look at your router client list, my has grown significantly with TVs, smartphones, and lot of other smart things.  When I saw over 40 devices connected I almost fell over and that did not include any of my show network stuff.

V6 was a good version here. If it works for you, load it back up and enjoy the speed.

Sorry fadecomic I recall having issues when upgrading to 7.0 (beta) slow and/or non-connective.  Pointing the WiFi driver to external, not Linux Kernel, had the biggest improvement.  My other issue was a EDI Max WiFi dongle. It just didn't want to connect to 7, 6 was connected.  Relooking at that dongle in 6, I saw a weak connection....not suitable for my system. Replaced the dongle. Seems that 7 detected that bad dongle for me at test not show.  Thanks 7 = = and overall, 7 is quicker

It is usually recommended to use the external drivers. Using the external drives is using the drivers that are actually on the Wi-Fi chip itself, using the Linux Kernal is using a generic driver that has no knowledge of the actual Wi-Fi chip installed.
