Well... it SHOULD be as easy as going to the Cape Info page in FPP, EEPROM Upgrade tab, and selecting the Vendor/Board/Version and hitting Upgrade.   However, Hanson doesn't apparently want to do any work at all to make it easier for his users/customers so it's going to be a bit of work.

Are you using an HE123 controller?
If so, many of those boards had a bad EEPROM firmware that needs to be updated to work with the newer versions.

And, what did the logs say? Can you post the fppdlog? Post as an attachment.

Generally "Up To" the 1:16 scan rates.   There are 1:32 scan (64 pixel tall) panels that cannot be supported as there isn't a 5th address line.

Quote from: DesignTagline on July 19, 2024, 12:32:34 AMHello, it doesn't have a UI or if it doesn't I can't find it (and it doesn't install currently without a modification to the plugininfo file) check github there is a pull request for you to approve that solves that.

Merged the PR so that should fix that problem.

It doesn't really "need" a UI.   It will capture whatever channel ranges that FPP is configured to output.   Basically, it's creating the same sparse FSEQ files that FPP Connect from xLights would create.    If you want to capture a larger block of channels, configure a Virtual Matrix or something with the block you need.

It provides FSEQ Start Capture and FSEQ End Capture FPP Commands that can be invoked in any of the various ways FPP Commands can be invoked.   You could use the Big Buttons to create buttons, but if your console can invoke an OSC command or REST or similar, your console could be setup to trigger the Start/Stop automatically.

Dan,
Thank you for this page. it has been a great deal of help over the years :)

One thing i noticed, and I am sure i am looking at it incorrectly...  so please set me straight

in the Octosctroller Capabilities section it states " The Octoscroller supports various types of panels including 1:4 and 1:2 scan "outdoor" panels, various ways panels multiplex rows, etc... "

then in the notes section it states " The Octoscroller only has 4 address lines and thus can only support up to 1:16 scan panels.  There are no extra pins on the BBB to be able to add support. "

so, am i reading this incorrectly that the octoscroller can only support 1/16 scan panels, or does it support the other scan panels; (of course the scan is brightness - -1/4 is half as bright as 1/2, and 1/8 is half as bright as 1/4, since current (I) is split...)

I am sure that I am wrong somewhere, please tell me where I got this wrong...

Quote from: CUC on July 18, 2024, 05:07:58 PMKeep getting error messages on 7.2 so bad that I am thinking of throwing unit away.
What are the error messages?
The developers have improved the error reporting quite a bit over the releases and yes, you might get an error on 7.5 that you didn't get on 6.3, but that isn't because there was no error on 6.3, it was that 6.3 didn't report them. They keep putting in error messages when there are common problems to help the user figure out why their FPP isn't running as they expect it to run.
