If you think this is bad or hard you should have been around when first trying to learn vixen or then lightshow pro. xlights is a piece of cake to me compared to those days.  I have used xlights since the very first version and I still cannot sequence.  I know enough to be able to import purchased or shared sequences and am still putting on a show at age 80.  If I can do it you can do it.  Patience grasshopper.

Jim, I think that to many people are brain washed by plug and play. Not everything is that way. If it was then your show would be the same as everyone else. This is one hobby that you can make your own by building it the way you want.

It does have a learning curve and you have to want to use your hands and your mind to dream up what you want to do.
