Internal Media File

When I start a new musical sequence Media File Warning Box pops up (message says " The media file for this sequence could not be converted to the LOR internal media format. While the media file may work, some functions, such as 'Play speed, or 'Play range', may not or may work incorrectly.) -Then click OK another Media File Warning Box pops up ( "The media file for this sequence could not be converted to the LOR internal WAV format. While the media file will work, advance functions such as Beat Wizard, VU Wizard, and View Waveform will not function. Any Suggestions??I have downloaded LOR numerous times, but still getting no where.

I don't think your problem is LOR, it is your sound file. Use a program like Audacity to open and then Export to a constant bitrate MP3 or to a WAV file.

If its a video file, what kind is it?

I Found this and it worked.....

The default LOR Data directory is where your audio, sequence and show files are located. (Along with your Visualization folders, etc.) When you first ran Light-O-Rama you were asked where you want to put this directory. If you've forgotten where that is, just want to change it, here is how.

Close all of your running LOR programs. Not just things like the Sequence Editor, but also the LOR Control Panel (which is the light bulb icon in your computer's system tray). You can close the LOR Control Panel by right-clicking on it and selecting "Unload Light-O-Rama" from its popup menu.

Using Windows Explorer, open up the directory that contains your LOR program files. This is typically, but not always, C:\Program Files\Light-O-Rama.

In that directory, there should be a file called LORPost.exe (it might show up as just "LORPost", depending upon how you have Windows set up). Run that file.

It will step you through a few dialogs. In one of them, it will ask you where you want LOR to store data files. Tell it the directory ABOVE the directory your sequences are in. For example, if your sequences are in C:\Your Name\Shane\My Documents\Light-O-Rama\Sequences, tell it to store LOR data in C:\Your Name\Shane\My Documents\Light-O-Rama.

The directory is an important setting for any program used for lights.  I too had this problem quite a while ago and found it!

Seeing your post over on the Australian lighting forum and now on here makes me want to give another "point" that is important in this "hobby" as well.
You should make your audio files all the same for using with LOR, LSP, xLights and others (if possible).

I am still using LOR myself with around 272 channels but want to convert over to xLights at some point.

I currently am saving all my audio files as mp3 and constant bit rate (CBR) in an effort to make them "adaptable" for use with xLights and LOR.  I see on the WIKI for Nutcracker that:

What media format is required for sequencing?
Nutcracker currently only supports the MP3 format for audio files. Ensure that the MP3 file is saved with constant bit rate (CBR), preferably 128K or 192K. Use Audacity to export the audio as a constant bit rate file.

So I assume that my current setting will be okay. 

I also use Audacity for converting files over which has worked great with LOR for years so far.

I would ask if there is a better file format to use for audio that is more "universal" or does this still hold true to use mp3 and 192 CBR for audio?

Thank You Everyone for Giving Your Time and To Help, It Truly Is Greatly Appreciated!!!

I'm Just getting started so I am starting from scratch with the sequencing. So I am learning as I go. I have all the elements built, just waiting on the lights (12v WS2811) and new F16v3 and 2 expansion boards with ribbons to arrive. I already have 2 Pixcon16s. I plan on doing what John Storms has done and use audacity for the Timing Notes and implant them into LOR. Then use Nutcracker for all sequencing. Using the Falcon Pi and Raspberry Pi to run the show. Right now I am working on making a template of all channels used in the LOR Sequence Editor. So When I open Nutcracker I wont get an Error Message or BUG Message. I wish there was someone in Southern Delaware who was willing to talk me through things and work off each other. I cannot believe I am the only one in the area that is doing this hobby.

So With All That Being Said My Ultimate Goal in 5 years is to Have An Enchanted Wonderland, For Everyone To Come Hang Out and Enjoy!  So I Have Time, <sigh> ... Hopefully To Figure Out All The Technology, Technical Terms, and Computer Language, Electrical-Amps, Watts, Voltage, ETC...... I Enjoy A Challenge and So Far I am Getting A Challenge.

Good to know but is there any reason to not use CBR for audio files?  I seem to think that there was a discussion about this a few years ago and people were in the majority of using CBR rather than not.

This is why I posted my response for eaglelife originally just is case they had not seen or heard that issue.  Seems like there would be a standard format for all to use that will work with different sequencers so that changing to a different sequencer causes as little problem as possible?

Not a "standard" but probably the most used and certain to work is a CBR MP3 @ 128bit

The only reason Cbr was preferred was because seeking in vbr songs was very unreliable. XLights has addressed this by doing the conversion as the file loads so it no longer cares. Fpp also does not really care because it doesn't jump around inside the song it just starts it at the beginning and plays it through to the end. In that case vbr works just fine.
