Just received the Pi Cap and watched the setup video from 2017 by John Storms.  In that video John mentions the Pi Cap can supply power from the RPi or not.  He mentions the when the Power Pi pins are jumpered it will pull power from the Pi.

  • What if you wanted to power the Pi Cap separately?
  • Does that mean removing the jumper from these pins?
  • Also, I take the power input to the Cap will then draw from the same power as passed through to the pixel ports?

Been reviewing the board here and seeing lots of good ideas and suggestion on many topics.  Look forward to your answers here and future feedback.

James,
You may want to double check that statement.

Usually either the Pi is fed its own power (isolating it from the PiCap), or the Pi gets its power from the PiCap.  The amount of power a Pi power supply delivers will NOT push pixels attached to the PiCap.  The power supply pushing the pixels should be more than enough to drive the PiCap and the Pi.
