I am posting this so people can find the web page describing building your own 9' Nutcrackers.

http://meighan.net/build_your_own_nutcrackers/

We first built these December 2011. My 11yo sons helped build them.

The nutcrackers help me see how fast the boys are growing

My dad built one last year for me....it's simply awesome! I lost some pin striping during the crazy ice storm we had, but over all it has held up. Looking forward to November when I get to put him back outside.  Just wish I had 12' ceilings in the garage and didn't have to break him down into two parts....i'm thinking for halloween maybe i put a big white blanket over his head and dress him up as a ghost. ok...I won't be doing that :)

when i built these originally in 2011, my boys and i kept my wife out of the grarage for 3 weeks. we then did the big reveal. when she saw them she just sat down and said she needed a glass of vodka.

The next morning i was driving the boys to school. we went out the front door. when i came home, i pressed open on the garage. the garage door is 8' high, the nutcracker 9'. As i watched the door pushed both nutcrackers over onto their faces. the only issue was the noses got bent. so i did a rhinoplasty and removed them and put in new noses.

they are pretty tough. This will be the 4th christmas for them.
