I have a BBB with LED panel hat/cap I bought from a vendor years ago at a Xmas Expo.  Ready to go. Up until now, the most recent version of FPP BBB I used was 6.2.  In an effort to update everything this year, I am trying 9.0 (flashed to a new SD).  I can boot up, assign ethO and even find it using xLights.  The issue I am having is that the hat/cap is not found under LED Panels.  I have never taken apart the BBB with the hat; I never had issues with it before in 6.2.  What am I doing wrong?

If it was me I would start by using FPP 8.5.1.  I'm just seeing way too many issues in v9x to make me feel good about it yet.

so, i too "updated" my BBB to the latest 9. (whatever) and xlights saw the bbb and sent data to it, but it was garbled and not useable.
i created a sdcard with 8.5.1 and SO FAR, it seems to be much better.

for me. 9.2 was not wanting to play well with xlights or even itself. the test patterns were all garbled. the ONLY thing that looked good was the RGB color washes. ANY kind of animation was garbled.
so far so good.. ill report back

I am not sure what your issue is but I have 10 FPP devices of various kinds running 9.2 and no problems. I haven have 5 large drive through displays using FPP V9 without any issues. There are over 3,000 devices using FPP v9. If you are still on V9, I would suggest trying to figure out what your configuration problem is.
If to err is human, I am more human than most people.
