Install virtual eeprom on a pi zero with no audio

My setup is a pi zero with one gpio pin driving 100 leds. No audio.  Why does the Channel Outputs page insist I install a virtual eeprom?

Because that's how FPP works.    FPP needs a special json file (and other configuration) that tells it which pins are used for which port, how they need to be configured, etc....   That is done either via an actual physical eeprom or via a virtual eeprom.
