Title: F8-B+ temp sensors
Post by: critic2 on May 19, 2019, 08:06:09 PM
so what are the Temp1: and Temp2: sensors actually measuring?
On my F8-B+ V3.0, which is not in an enclosure and just sitting on my desk, the difference between temp1 and temp2 is about 0.7C

If you look at the board, there are two chips, one labelled Temp1 up by the OLED and Temp2 right between the RJ45 and the expansion connector.  For the most part, they should be far enough away from other things that they should be close to the ambient temperatures.   Temp2 is definitely in an are where air cannot move as freely, but it still should be close.

Both of them are only rated +/- 2C.  Thus, it wouldn't be uncommon for them to be off from each other by a degree or two.

So what would be a safe operating temperature for this board? I have installed it in a enclosure with a lid and I see temps as high as 42C. The power supply is in a separate box.
Should I install a cooling fan in this enclosure? I currently have not installed any vents.
