Title: Display test stopped working
Post by: tetleytealeaf on November 13, 2021, 05:17:22 PM
Hi,

I'm relatively new to all this, but I had Display testing working on my 50-node bullet strings earlier today.  Then I open up Xlights and fiddle around a bit, and now Display testing on the FPP page no longer works; even if I close Xlights.  The OLED display on the controller board clearly says "testing" (meaning I checked "Enable test mode") and the System Health Check says everything is in order.   In fact, I configure my board to 5V power and connect my trusty Arduino's vin and gnd pins to exactly the same pins as I connect my bullet string--same port and all--and when I connect my pixel string's dataIn pin to the Arduino instead of the controller, everything works beautifully.   But for some reason the data out from my FPP board simply refuses to work.

And now when I go into Xlights and Discover the FPP board and select Auto size, it says I have only one channel.  I have repeatedly checked my Channel outputs on the FPP page and have it set to 50 pixels (channels 1-150).  I tried changing ports (in case I blew a fuse), but still no go.

Do I need to factory reset something?  What would cause Auto Size in Xlights to think my falcon board has only 1 channel?   Thanks!

We need a lot more information than this.  What controller are you using?  If you can access the controller, you need to post a screen shot of the controllers E1.31 input and port configuration screens.  I looks like XLights incorrectly reconfigured your controller.

Does this forum support Kulp boards running falcon?   I turned off everything E1.31; it should be running standalone.

I remember looking at some AC features in Xlights.  If I told Xlights that the Kulp board is an AC line, that would do it.  I just wouldn't expect Xlights to have anything to do with the diagnostics on the FPP page.

Thanks a lot for replying, by the way.

E1.31 has nothing to do with output definitions and Xlights can talk to controllers running FPP which the Kulp controllers do.  I would take a look at the Kulp boards port definitions page and make sure that the port you are using is still defined properly

Found it, and as expected, I'm an idiot.

Both my port numbers were wrong.   I tried both ports 1 and 2, and thought therefore it had nothing to do with the port.  No, it's because it was port 16.    :-[

i have a similar issue on k32A-B my 50 node string is on port 16 and testing workd fine but only on port 16 no other ports light up with the test. this is all after messing around with xlights trying to learn it. i had 16 setup as my garage strip trying to learn. I am new to Kulp boards and FPP as well as xlights been using diy relays with Arduino and vixen for years. any help would be greatly appriciated
