Title: Flood recommendation
Post by: Phrog30 on February 06, 2016, 11:32:42 AM
I'm considering adding a few floods this year.  What is the best option for RGB floods?  I would really like to stay away from DMX if at all possible.  Are there any E1.31 flood options out there?

Thanks,
James

I like the flood options that have ws2811 chips in them because they can attach right to my normal string controllers for their data signal.  I ran 4 of RobG's 20W WS2811 floods this year connected to a F16v1 and a 24V power supply doing power injection right at the F16v1 so they were essentially connected up just like any of my other pixel strings on my window frames and house which were running off the same controller.  I have a color coded zip tie on the 3-conductor pigtail to make sure I knew which one was 24V for the floods.

Can you link me to one's you have?

Thanks for the info.

Those are the ones I am using.  I have 5x of the 20W ws2811 built and 10x of the 10W ws2811 that I haven't built yet.

I also have about 8 of the original 10W kits without the ws2811, but am trying to get rid of those.  I was going to use those with a Ray Wu 27 channel DC controller and then abandoned those plans when the ws2811 version came out.

As you've probably seen, DMX floods are a-plenty.  Just curious, why are you wanting to stay away from DMX?

Also wondering what you mean by "E1.31 flood"?  E1.31 is essentially DMX over IP.  Are you wanting a flood with an IP address?

I have all rgb and e1.31, I want to keep this "standard". Basically what has been linked is what I'm looking for, just was hoping for a ready to go device.
