Title: PSU to Falcon expansion board
Post by: uzelessknowledge on July 31, 2016, 05:21:09 PM
Hey all.
I have my F16 v2 and a PSU mounted in a cg1500. The expansion board is in the door. I need to run power from a PSU in another cg1500. I run 10awg from my PSU's to my Falcons.

I had planned to run these quick connectors between the boxes, but I need to lengthen the wires.

Is soldering the wires best or is crimping them?

I use solder sleeves or the heat shrink butt connectors no promblems at all. Some love soldering but I suck at it so I choose not to

Either way works just fine but the butt-connectors are the easiest, provided you have a good crimper.  Also make sure that if using them that the wire you are using to extend the connection is within the gauges indicated or they will not seal.

Thanks guys. I was able to get a decent mesh solder joint.
Understood. Both wires are 10awg.
Thanks.
I'll pick up some of the butt connectors tomorrow and see how they do.

How's this? I pressed the two sides together to interlace/mesh them.

It should work but I usually do a western union splice. It is simple to do and strong.

It looks good but I would probably flow a bit more solder into that joint.  This type of joint requires a lot of solder and a lot of heat to flow the solder thru the entire joint.

I'm familiar with it but on smaller wire. This is 10awg. Would take a fair amount and the lead on the left is 5-6".

Got it .  I did t see the gauge,  I agree with you it could be done but would  take a bit of material.
