Title: While I know this hobby isn't cheap, it could be worse.
Post by: JonB256 on January 01, 2014, 06:34:56 AM
Was cruising the Light-O-Rama forum (I use LOR S3 for non-RGB and small RGB), I ran across someone asking about their upcoming license to run 80 Cosmic Color Ribbons. That's a lot of ribbons. More than I own (but not a lot more) :)

I don't know what the software license cost will be, but CCRs are $250 US each.  That's $20,000 US
And that's just 50 pixels per CCR. $5 per pixel?  Ouch.

I wish to thank all the hobby folks (Falcon team, RJ and DLA, Aussie Christmas, DIYChristmas, and more) for keeping this hobby within my budget.

Jon

I hear you Jon. 50c a light gets me a lot more lights on my budget !!

I am likely departing from my 12 strand 180degree tree next year and moving towards a matrix display on my garage with flex strips and building a mega tree with the 12mm nodes and couldn't imagine the cost if I went with lor.
