Title: PiCap Pixel Brightness
Post by: jimmyc4511 on March 28, 2017, 08:48:20 PM
Is there anyway to adjust the brightness of the pixels being ran off the PiCap...?

It needs to be done at either sequence level or I think that there may be a setting within FPP.

Ok I'll try the sequence level...I can't find it in the FPP settings

Has to be sequence for now.  I have the framework for brightness adjustment in some new code, so I want to get that into FPP v2.0, but there is no way to do it in v1.x.

I am kind of new to this pixel thing. But correct me if I make this statement wrong. Is not both color and brightness a factor of a number between 0 and 255. With totally off is the value of 0. And full on is 255? So say I want a very bright white 255, 255, 255 or a dim white would be 50, 50, 50. Not sure how you would dim something like 250, 128, 30. Does any of this sound about right? This would also work for any two colors that use equal brightness.

Pretty sure it'll just be a linear scale for brightness adjustment.  If you set it to 50%, in your last example instead of the 250, 128, 30 values sent out, it would be reduced to 125, 64, 15.

It may convert the RGB to HSV values, cut the V (value/brightness) in half, then convert back to RGB.
