Title: Multiple PSU Spacing on side in cabinet
Post by: Yamr6rider on August 28, 2017, 09:45:23 AM
What guidance can you guys offer on spacing for PSU's?  I'm using the same case as was used in the Leechburg lights video (linked below) but am only running 3 PSU's.  I linked a picture as well (the third PSU is on it's way...  I'd rather not put the controller on top of the PSU's if I can help it.  Can you run them fully loaded @ 1" spacing? 1/2"?  I'd love to see what you guys have used that has worked or failed.  Please chime in and help me not learn this the hard way since there's this whole network of knowledge.

The spacing is probably less important than the ventilation through the box. With 1000W of power supplies in there you're going to need to get rid of maybe 150W of heat when fully loaded. This means that there needs to be forced ventilation and the placement of the air in and air out positions governs how well things cool.
