BeagleBone Black Controllers / Re: Connecting USB Wifi
« Last post by Sawdust on February 21, 2019, 08:05:25 PM »
If no connection, then FPP can be connected via tethering.
On smart phone go to settings/WiFi and select SSID FPP and use Christmas as password

BeagleBone Black Controllers / Connecting USB Wifi

Hey everyone! I am not sure if I am missing something obvious I am trying to set my PB F8 to wifi and I don't know where I am going wrong. I have it working over Ethernet then when I plug in the WIFI adapter I can't find it on my network at all. I am sure that I need to set up my ssid and password somewhere but the other option I have in FPP is eth0 from the wired connection.

I am guessing if I was to connect to computer with usb cable that would allow me to access and set up wifi but for the life of me I can't find a usb a - a cable and was hoping there was another way.

I started a compile of the latest xLights on another dev machine, so I will try to reproduce with that if no one else comments.  I needed the latest running to update a xLights patch I have anyway, so should be looking at it in the next day or two.
Did you have those three songs in your default playlist?  If FPP couldn't contact the web site to pop the next item off the queue, it would have just played the default playlist forever.

I've been working on a couple other tasks, but will be jumping back onto the Viewer Control plugin soon.  I'm currently trying to update my VirtualDisplay map file patch for xLights so I can try to get that into a pull request to get the xLights devs to merge.  One of the newer features I added to FPP recently is to allow you to view the Virtual Display in your web browser, so right on your phone, you can see the preview of what your house should be doing when a sequence is playing.  To complete this, I need the patch in xLights to generate the CSV file containing the pixel locations and channel numbers.

I run my roofline icicles from a single receiver board, and I have more linear distance to cover than you do.  Aside from the power injection issue Jon noted, you're fine.

I would consider relocating the F48 to the inside of your garage.  It will reduce the length of Cat5 you need to run.

Did you set up the F16 to use the expansion board? It's not plug and play. It's in the user manual under section 4 on how to set it up.

It doesn't want to individually control the next strings independantly. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help.

I don't know what this means. A screen shot of your F16v3 config screens will be needed. (string outputs, particularly)
New issue:

Viewer control faithfully ran through the CML queue for two weeks before I crashed my Pi.  But that's the problem--the queue never emptied and FPP played the same three songs over and over (apparently).  Prior to the sustained test, the queue would empty itself.

And a quick picture of the test rig I'm using to test everything.  :)

Thanks Chris, unfortunately I donít have any old .eseq files but I will have a look if I can downgrade XLights to an older version and test again. I am curious though for someone else results using FPP 2.6 with the latest XLights version.
