Title: Pi Cap use in xLights
Post by: mmais68569 on December 05, 2018, 05:46:52 PM
I have a Pi cap I would like to run a tree next year.
The tree will have 16 strings of 70 2811 pixels. I would like to run 8 strings off one output & 8 off the other output. The problem I am having is how to set it up in xlights. Do I start with string one up then connect the second string to the end of string one & run number two down. This would be a zig zag pattern in xLights?
On FPP the start channel on output one would be 1 & the last channel would be 560
Then on output two the start channel would be 561 & the last channel would be 1121?
Thanks for any help.
 Mike

Set it up in xlights just like you are going to make it

16 strands x 70 nodes = 1120 nodes x 3 channels / node = 3360 channels / 2 outputs = 1680 channels per output or 1-1680 and 1681-3360
don't confuse nodes and channels
I am running 600 12v nodes off one output for a window matrix 20 col x 30 rows.  Five 120 node strings connected in one long string.  Power injection at 240 and 480.  Last year I ran at 30% brightness and this year I am running at 20% brightness.  You should try out your settings as soon as you have all the equipment in house.  Just lay the strings out on the floor and test.
