Will POE+ work over the Differential Controller?

Does anybody know if I can inject (and then split out again) POE+ / 802.3at between the Differential Controller & Differential SmartReceiver board?

I know it can only drive about 80 pixels, but that's fine.

AAH

The differential boards use RS422 signal voltages or some other comms standard and not ethernet. I also believe that the standard differential connections from F48 or similar use all 4 pairs for data leaving no cabling for power. If you were creative with your wiring and didn't use all 4 signals down a length of cable you probably could manage it.
The POE (power over ethernet) says it all really. It's Cat5 or Cat6 cabling but not ethernet.

deonb

Sure, but depending on the combination of your differential signalling wiring and POE mode you can get non-overlapping wiring.

E.g. 10/100bT + POE Mode B Passive has a completely non-overlapping power and data pinout.

So it all depends on which conductors the Differential Controller uses.

The differential sender/receivers use all 4 pairs (1 pair for each of the 4 ports)

You could make your own cable splitting out one or more of the pairs for power but you would also have to give up one or more of the corresponding ports on the receiver

I think what AAH and Pixelpuppy are politely telling you is - Don't do it.

and, if you do do it, don't fuss when you burn out the chips on your Differential board.
